This is the original EE Minimax and NOT the DAC Plus. This is the one with volume control, which I found very valuable in equalizing the volume level between digital and analog sources.
Plus, it comes with a number of upgrades already installed. It has an Amperex Orange Globe 12AU7 in the tube section. You can read a little about this in “Joe’s Tube Lore”. Also installed higher quality OPA2604 OpAmps in the dual channel positions (U1/U2), as well as two LM49710 in the single channel locations (U6/U7). There is a recent thread discussing “OpAmp Rolling” on Audiogon. That discussion gives a lot of background on how this great little DAC can be enhanced with simple OpAmp swaps. Finally, an Audio Magic Nano-Liquid Premium Fuse is installed. This premium fuse retails for $60.
Unit is in excellent condition and will be double boxed in all original packaging. Everything will be packed along with user manual, stock power cord, stock EE tube, and extra stock fuses. Also included are two (2) extra pairs of OpAmps to experiment and tweak the DAC to your tastes or particular system characteristics: a set of LM49720’s and a set of LM4562’s. These both go in the dual channel positions (U1/U2).
