The BUSSes are sealed and designed with a maximum of safety in mind, but there is always someone who will find a creative way to hurt themselves with a cotton ball. With that in mind follow these very basic instructions:
Treat the BUSSes with the respect that you treat everything else that is plugged into the wall. Approach them with a reasonable head and all will be well.
Yes, it is normal for a small pop to occur when plugging the BUSS into the wall.. That is the PFC network being energized.
The BUSSes were designed to be permanently sealed. There are no serviceable parts inside... with the exception of the receptacles.
Always unplug the BUSS at the power inlet into it. This will prevent the Edison plug blades from being temporarily energized.
DO NOT TOUCH the IEC power inlet blades after unplugging. They will be energized for a few seconds after being unplugged.
If you wish to change receptacles follow the following instructions:
Unplug the BUSS and let it sit unenergized for 10 minutes!
Other than that is just a straight swap of the wiring and the FinalFilters on each receptacle. some may look different from each other depending upon specific application. Just remember which receptacle space had what FinalFilter and you are good to go.
