you may want to consider a used BP-20 or BP-25 initially which could be upgraded to a BP-26 at a later date

http://bryston.com/pdfs/07/BP25toBP26.pdf

with the purchase of an MPS-2 power supply (which could be used with the BP-20 or BP-25 with a specific power cable)

just a thought ...  :thumb:

A question for James Tanner:

James - have you been able to compare a BP25 (with MPS-1) power supply against a BP6?  If so - how would they compare from a performance standpoint.  Given that the BP25 is NOT a BP26, would the BP25 still slightly exceed the performance of the BP6?

Is XLR vs RCA connections key to this difference?

Good question. I would like to know as well.

One thing to keep in mind is the the BP6 depreciates much faster than the BP26

This is true, as I alluded to in my earlier post...

At this point in the demo, the salesman realizes that it is unlikely that the prospect will attempt to negotiate a better price. He smiles and begins the close...

Drats...  Busted and owned.

Please forgive me as I was so very weak, I just started handing him buckets of money until he said "sold." After the deal, I had to walk home because I could not afford gasoline for my Corolla.

Be well...

Thank you all for the suggestions.  I have seen a BP25 with MPS1 on everyone's favourite auction site though it has the U.S. voltage PSU.

However, I think that I may just go for BP6 as my 4B SST2 is for keeps and I am only using two inputs, turntable and DAC.  I am in no rush, so who knows what may come over the horizon in the future ;)

Go for it money_penny, I have the same setup myself i.e. Bp6 with 4bsst2.  It sounds great!

Yep, same here, but with the older ('07 vintage) 4BSST. I does in fact sound great! You're gonna love that phono input!

Yes I would buy a BP25 with either power supply then the BP6 then the BP26.
