Speaker Grills 938s

I should be interested to here members comments as to the effects to the sound they think the speaker covers make on the 938s.Thanks.

They affect any speaker for the worse.  Mine stay off.  Much prettier that way anyway.

I have the HWS-586 monitors (similar to 906s) and believe that the grills veil the music somewhat. Also like the appearance with the grills off.

Yes, a slight veil and corresponding reduction in immediacy.  Mine always come off when the dog and kids aren’t around.

In my experience, listening with the grill on causes slight loss of "sparkle" to the sound.  Some may call this veiling, but I'm not sure if transparency is lost.  If your speaker is in a overly bright room, leaving the grill on may help with the overall sound.  But I think even Hyperion prefers to leave the grill off as all of their demos at high end shows grills were no where to be found.

My 938's sound pretty good with the grilles on but for serious listening (the ultimate in transparency), they come off. I do worry about the kids breaking the tweets though.
