Tried and tested cheap soundbar?
« on: 30 Aug 2020, 07:56 am »
Do you have any suggestions for a really cheap soundbar that works great? Planning to place one in my daughter's room. Budget is around $150. If you have additional info + setup and troubleshooting tips that would be really helpful too. Thanks!

I would recommend soundbars that go above that price that are really worth your money, so someone else might be able to give other recommendations that are within your budget. As for troubleshooting, there are general steps as in the ones you can find here. The manual that comes with your purchase also is a great reference, and would be more specific to the model you have.

We totally recon'd our LR last year and got this one (for the fam) from Wohome.  Not a recognized name but it has turned out to be quote good.  Includes bluetooth as well.  Plus, below your budget.  For your consideration.

If you just want something pretty basic as an improvement over TV speakers, this one has worked well for us.

Costco has a few in your price range that are well reviewed on the site and of course Costco has an excellent return policy.

I have the Vizio SB3621n-E8 and it sounds really excellent for a $150 soundbar + little subwoofer. https://www.cnet.com/reviews/vizio-sb3621n-e8-review/

Looks like they've discontinued it for the newer V21-H8. For a few bucks more there's also the V51-H6 which also has 2 wireless surround speakers to give you a 5.1 system instead of 2.1. I have no idea if the new one sounds as good. Look it up, maybe it's even better.

EDIT: https://www.cnet.com/reviews/vizio-v21-review/ looks like it is about as good.
Costco has them at good prices https://www.costco.com/home-theater-systems.html?brand=vizio&refine=ads_fbrand_ntk_cs%253A%2522Vizio%2522|

But you may be able to pick a SB3621n-E8 used or open-box.
