Title: NuPrime AMG STA with ProAc Studio SM100
Post by: Cooltool on 4 Jan 2021, 05:54 pm
Hello,
I am currently using NuPrime IDA-16 with ProAc Studio SM100 and I am thinking of moving on to AMG STA.
Anybody using AMG with ProAc? Do you think AMG is powerful enough to power up SM100?
Any thoughts/opinions appreciated
Thanks,
Vladimir

Oh please, have some faith in HiFi Advice reviewer (he tested AMG STA with some very hard to drive speakers)  :thumb:.
Yes it can because AMG has very high current, and the hard to drive speakers are all Current hungry.
Furthermore, AMG can be bridged into mono with 50% more power than IDA-16.

Thanks, Rusty:)
Yes, I read Christiaan Punter’s review where he was driving  Magico S1 MkII with AMG. I also read your comment re AMG’s high output current and Apogee speakers.
I guess I just wanted to confirm:)
Thanks again,
Vladimir

So the AMG STA is a "better (sounding)" amp than the IDA 16?

"better" is subjective. But we would classify AMG STA at the higher level than IDA-16 / STA-9 / IDA-8 level.
