The new Bernie Grundman Joni Mitchell remasters of The Roses, Court and Spark, Miles of Isles, and the Hissing of Summer Lawns. Its in Qobuz. Hearing things that I have never heard before, piano decay, going deeper into Joni's voice, just incredible. I am not going anywhere for awhile. The Mile of Isles was an album that could of used a good remaster, and now its wonderful. All are improved substantially from previous versions IMO. Its a good time to be an audiophile.

I listened to Court and Spark earlier today. It sounded fantastic. Nice job Bernie!

I listened to four of them so far. All sounded great. He's an interesting musician. He doesn't often repeat what he's done before. From what little I can find about him, his last few albums have been recorded at home in his personal studio. You could have fooled me, they sound like they were recorded in a high-end professional studio. I found him by chance thanks to Roon's "play similar artists" algorithm

That's saying a lot for Hissing of Summer Lawns, which was an above average recording to begin with. Thanks for the heads up.

Just finished with Luciano Berio, "Chamber Music".

Great late 20th century classical, bordering on avant-garde. Great huge, detailed, 3d soundstage on this recording, too. 





Next up, Craig Taborn, "Daylight Ghosts", from 2016.

This jazz pianist should be better known. He has great chops, is a great composer. He seems to me, to be the heir apparent to Keith Jarrett. Not that his style is too much like Jarrett's, but his musical philosophy does not seem too far off.

Typical high quality, spacious recording, typical of ECM Records.
