Old Dinette Re-imagined
« on: 6 Mar 2015, 01:06 am »
We live in a '64 house, I just turned 59, I like old stuff of all sorts and found this at auction and couldn't help but buy it. Circa late '60s or early '70s, I'd guess.

But being me, I couldn't just leave it as is, so I peterfied it. New top made better than original, buffed and bead blasted where appropriate, upholstery done by someone mo' betta than me at it. Fun project!

Hi Peter J,
look nice, but no offences, I prefer the original look.

To each their own, Guy. The doing is as much fun as the result for me, I probably could've lived with it in original form, but there's no going back now!

Love the mid century modern stuff.  A cool reinterpretation too!

We have a teak dining set we inherited from my wife's parents when they moved from their house to their cottage full time.

I have since found a bookshelf that fits the theme, and a shag carpet area rug.

If I could park my 69 T Bird in the living room it  would look perfect!

I like the direction you went with the Peterization.  I can see modern influences that bring the pieces back to current, and the choice of more subtle colour makes sense to me.  Our dining chairs were initially red, but we went with black when we redid the upholstery.
