Hi all,
think what you want, but they don't make them like that anymore,
I mean, nice looking with charm...
That Scott tuner is beauteful, of course it's not the only one like that,
but that's rare
and today, that's even more rare...

Picked this up at The Hippie Hut in Columbus Ohio while visiting my daughter.
Realistic LAB-500, this turntables head shell has a Shure cartridge built in and cannot be removed. It sounded bloody horrible. I found a Sansui head shell and installed a Goldring Electra cartridge. Sounds really good "now".

Doug s. has been kicked out of AC for a while now.  He was probably our most knowledgeable member concerning tuners.  If it's important to contact him, send me a PM.

Not sure?

Do I have too many vintage amps?

From left to right:

2 pair perfectly working Dyna MKIII. One pair has a set of Gold Lion KT88. Sometimes I'll use them when I am listening to chamber music.

In the back, a pair of perfectly working Kenwood LO7M amps. Just in front of them, a pair of LO7M MKII. Both are quite amazing sounding amps. The MKIIs primary duty is driving my modified Maggies IIIA.

In the front are 2 Hafler DH500s. Both have had the driver boards upgraded, by me, with boards once sold by an Ebay seller named qua-co (he still sells lots of Hafler and Dyna parts). The one of the left has had the PS caps upgraded with Nipon caps. The upgraded driver boards got rid of the exaggerated sibilance that DH500s are known for, and opened up the soundstage. Overal, they sound smoother without loosing any transient response of detail.

The reason why they are all on the floor, is that I just moved, and still setting up soundroom.

1967 Bozak Concert Grands renewed and awesome.  First owned by Lloyd Smith, sax player in St. Louis Jazz Hall of Fame (I have the original sales receipt).  They sat in his den until he passed on in 1999.  I'm the third owner.

Never too many amps!  I'd love to hear those Kenwoods.  I've heard and read good things about them.   :)

Shame on you for hoarding those beautiful Kenwoods. How many do you need, honestly. You should release them into the wild and make some other ACer happy.

Wow.  It's been a year since this thread has been active.
I have mostly finished redoing my early '80s vintage JVC TT 81 turntable.  The plinth is alternating maple and walnut on 16 sides.  The pod is just a raw piece of mesquite that need a few coats of oil attached to several pounds of lead.  It's all sitting on Herbie's dots throughout.

I'm new around here and have been really enjoying the photos in this thread.  Although I do not have much vintage gear, the stuff I have, I really enjoy.  I use this Accuphase E-301 in my bedroom system (KEF LS50 / Raspberry Pi - HifiBerry DAC+ Streamer).  I think it sounds wonderful.
