A great jazz pianist, at 91 this morning in Manhattan.
Sorry to know this news, a great musician, RIP.

I saw him accompanying Mel Torme in Dallas decades ago.  They put on quite a performance.

Mr Shearing was a fine pianist.  He was a local Symphony guest artist back in the 80's.  He was a real pleasure to work with and put on a great show.

One of my favorite Jazz clubs in the South is The Jazz Corner in Hilton Head, George was their opening perfprmer, and gave a performance not to be forgotten. It's a sad day.

First jazz group I ever saw.  At The Blackhawk in San Fran.  Not long after HS and newly in the USAF with a fake ID already.
