Hi,

I'm about to purchase a pair of IB1s and an IB1-Centre and had planned on getting a 6B-SST to drive them.

Then came along the the 875HT and I figured 3 pairs of channels bridged for the front/centre speakers and the remaining channels for my rear speakers would do nicely.

However, I have since read that (in general) bridging amps like this is not recommended for low impedance loads and that I am almost certainly better off sticking with a 6BSST over an 875.

I'm in the UK and getting an 875 to audition is a little tricky at the moment (they're a bit rare here)

Any thoughts ?

Hi again John,

When you bridge an amplifier is 'sees' 1/2 of the impedance it sees in stereo. So a 4 ohm load becomes a 2 ohm load. This lower impedance makes it harder on the amp to drive. The IB1 is a 4 ohm speaker so I would recommend staying with the 6B SST.
