Hey Sean (or anyone), I've been trying to get on the AV123 forum site today, and haven't had any luck. I tried in both IE and FireFox, and have just gotten errors. Are your servers down?
-
Down before, working now.

Indeed it is. Thanks. :thumb:

Not anymore.
I think someone needs to find some new hosting. It was down for about 1 hour on Wed, down for well over 12 yesterday, and it's down now.
-
Odd, it was up when I first saw your message earlier Stereodude, but now it's down. They definitely have some reliability issues with their current provider. Didn't they already switch once?

Not sure, but I don't think we'll see the forum again until Monday.

Ok, so I know the forum is up, but I still can't get to it...
av123forum resolves to 69.64.71.243 which I get no reply from when I try to ping it.
A trace route doesn't really help me...

I've rebooted this PC, my wireless router and my cable modem with no changes. I haven't noticed any problems with any other sites I've tried to go to. I can get to av123.com though
Any ideas?

Works fine from here, I guess the AV123 hosting is in Pheonix:

BTW: Holy cow Comcast routes you through a ton of junk - and on the same subnet too.

So I'm basically screwed with no way to fix it and nothing I can do but wait and hope it starts working eventually? :(
-
Hmmm...their server has issues again. Now I can tracert and ping it, but can't get the website.
-
This seems to happen to me at least 3-4 times per week from 2 different locations/ISP's. I don't have that problem anywhere else so it seems to be something with the hosting or the site.
-
It isn't the hosting that is the problem. It is the constant attacks. Our forum server has been repeatedly attacked by doers of maliciousness (heh); we pile on more security and they find a way around it... Rinse and repeat :(

I consider that a hosting issue - your hosting provider also handles many aspects of your security like detecting and stopping attacks before they bring down your service. If you do shop around for new hosting, be sure to ask about their IDS/IPS components and their incident response process. You'll quickly find some look at you funny and some are on top of it.

Update:
It was an inside job! Unfortunately someone inside the data center bombed our server as well as many others. We are moving our server now so we will be down a short time.
Thanks for your patience.
Sean

Can't get away from Mr. AH & Nubbie at all.

I have more posts than Nobbie over here. Guess that will last until breakfast tomorrow.
-
I keep getting "Cannot find server". Anybody else having problems getting into the forum?

Nope can't get on at all today. I just keep getting "Problem Loading Page". I have a stark fear that I'm gonna have to start posting over here to get my fix. I logged in this morning and almost started crying  Haha ok j/k but it is strange how much it's been down lately.
Ooh, maybe the new forum is done and Sean is updating and uploading it all! Hmm, that'd be cool. So what's the new color and look? Huh? Huh? Huh?
-
Well, in all the years I've been lurking here, I've never seen AudioCircle down.
-
Just doing one more bit of maintainence - it will be back up very soon...
-
The AV123 Forum is routinely the subject of targeted attacks. AC probably does not have that problem. In the previous attack; ours was specifically chosen out of one thousand other servers in the same farm...

It would be cool if every time the forum was down, it meant that when it came back, new products would be available--just like how Apple does it! :green:
Ok, it's not quite the same if you're the victim of any attack, but it would be fun. :)

This place needs me and Scott, me thinks. :icon_twisted:

Me thinks so too. Oh and it needs me  We need to go into the great abyss and cause our picture demanding and lighting enhanced love throughout the forum :D

The AV123 Forum is routinely the subject of targeted attacks. AC probably does not have that problem.
AC has been attacked multiple times in varying capacities, although never, to my knowledge, by anyone within the hosting company. (As I recall, AC changed hosting companies within the past year or so, however, for performance and capacity reasons.) JohnR and company have a track record of rapid responses.

Before someone beats me to it and asks why the forum is down at the moment... A backbone in Arizona just went down; we should be back online in ~15 mins... LOTS of servers were affected in this one :(
-
What'd you do now Sean?
The forum seems to be down... :nono:
-
Not sure yet... The admin has been on hold with the hosting company for a while now... it appears to be major since he can't get through (meaning lots of other calls are coming in all at once)...
I can't seem to catch a break lately with this stuff!

So... While you're sitting around doing nothing...
How about that UFW-12 MkII (aka HotRod)? :icon_twisted:
-
That's me... Mr. Do Nothing ;)
BTW the forum is up again...
UFW-12HR... I can't say anything at the moment... sorry Seth. All is well... I just don't want to get into the ETA game :)

...and it's down and it's up and it's down... they are having a nice little routing issue...

Did you guys ever get the waveguide samples for the X-LS SWG?

Looks like the forum is down again, or maintenance is being done. Either way, I'm lost

Down for me, too... Sadly, the av123 forum is down more than any other forum I visit. :(
-
Rats!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yep down again, or is that still? Certainly been having a number of issues keeping things running over there.

Yup seems lately I am not suprized when I get a blank page. I just think down again? Bummer!
-

Same here. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is with the forum. Either it's not getting the attention it needs, or it's under a lot more attacks than other forums.
-
And it's down again.
-
And it's down again.
Yes, yes it is... :nono:
-
Well maybe we should all just hang here instead...just kidding...or am I?
-
I am sorry for the inconvenience everyone... we are moving the server... once this move is done, we should be good for a long time. Top level machine, security and service...
-
Ok, am I an idiot or something, but I had a bunch of emails this morning but can't access the forum again. I guess I'll try resetting my computer again but this is just weird.
-
The forum is up and working great... let me know if you still have trouble...
-
Strange, I reset my computer and it's working fine now. I wonder why that is?
-
Your computer hates you.
;)
(it's OK, mine hates me too. Spontaneously reboots just as I am about to save an important document)
-
Anyone having problems getting to the forum the last two day's? I am getting emails that postings are happening but the link is not working.
-
If you try and access by ip [75.126.128.171], does that solve the problem?
-
Sean,
I can use that IP address and can get to the forum. :D
Thanks!
-
I don't know what's up with the DNS records for your new host, but every few days I can't get to the forum using the name, only the IP address. I'll have to check the records the next time I can grab them, but I'm guessing something weird is going on like a really short TTL combined with a poor host DNS server.
-
I've had three big brains check it and no one can find any problems. They all point correctly... the host is pretty top shelf... we have looked and looked and can't find any issues... it's odd that only a couple are seeing this. I'm not having any trouble here... I'm out of ideas at this point...
-
Look at the thread on the AV123 forum on the topic - there was at least one flaw in the DNS configuration pointed out there.
-
I checked on that and could not replicate their findings. We are looking at it but nothing says anything is wrong... we cant even replicate those findings.
-
Sorry if I am sounding terse here... I've got way too much going on to be dealing with this... it's frustrating when nothing on this side shows wrong... both servers show the same... I sent all the data to the host to look through...
-
We are taking the forum down right about now in order to clean up some stuff in the back end. So, if you can't access it for the next couple hours, it's on purpose :)
Also, they are refreshing the DNS or some such to see if this other issue can get cleared up at the same time.
- The Ninja posting for Sean

Hmm. I wonder what's really going on. As reported by www.allwhois.com, the authoritative DNS servers for the av123forum.com domain are:
Name Servers:
ns1.thresholdwebservices.net
ns2.thresholdwebservices.net
No IPs specified for either server, so any other DNS server attempting to resolve a host in the av123forum.com domain would first need to obtain an IP for one of the Threshold DNS servers before it could forward the DNS resolution request. I attempted to resolve those hostnames through the Qwest, Comcast, Visi.com, and Verizon DNS servers -- all of which failed. That'd prevent users of those DNS servers from resolving www.av123forum.com, or at least causing the resolutions to work only intermittently.
Hopefully the host company will get this worked out...
-
Let me know if anyone is still seeing an issue... I had them reset everything...
-
I cannot access the site by name from either work or home for the past day or so, only by IP address. I just tried flushing my DNS cache and clearing out my browser data here and still cannot reach it. An NSlookup fails from here on both av123forum.com and www.av123forum.com.
NSlookups on ns2.thresholdwebservices.net and ns1.thresholdwebservices.net also fail from here right now. However, I can resolve thresholdwebservices.net.
-
We are going to start over and move to a new DNS this Sunday. There should be no interruption in service since it is an established DNS.
-
Anyone having problems with the forum loading?
-
Never mind, it was IE7.
-
HAL
It was Firefox too, as I just had a few problems with timing out.
All seems better now
Jamie
-
It was out for about 5 mins yesterday...
-
Maybe just me (IE7/XP) but no joy 11/26 PM or 11/27 AM -- I just assumed Santa Schifter was having a great promotion :)
-
There are 280 users on right now so maybe a routing issue between you and the server... ?
