They look a lot like the old Gemini space capsule. The Salk Gemini.

Cool sounding name, but I'm not sure what "The Flame of the West" might imply!

Yeah, yeah, I know but I was thinking more of the majesty and power that the sword symbolizes. Geez. Wait! I, know, how about the Salk Sound Ents? That's it! Allright contest over. What do I win, anyway?

Well, I said it on the ST thread...name for your next piece d'art should be called "Harmony".  This loudspeaker represents that name in spades with it's harmonious angles and different design elements.

Or you could use "Johnson".

Probably not.  We pretty busy right now and I don't think we'll have time between now and then to build a pair.  We will bring HT3's and SongTowers for certain (and perhaps another unamed pair).

Obelisk is too obvious. Since it looks a little like a lighthouse (as someone pointed out) you could call them Pharos (the lighthouse once at Alexandria, one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world) which also kinda sounds like "pharaoh" in keeping with the slightly Egyptian obelisk look.

Agreed, and great suggestion! Works on several levels.

This is very cool, because SET lovers do not have a lot of choices when it comes
to modern speakers these days!

Any chance we can ever get a pair for review?

We love SET stuff, but always come back to the speaker dilemma....

Good luck on this project either way!

Perhaps we could arrange to build a pair and send them to you.  But it wouldn't be for a few months since we're quite swamped at this time.  The SongTowers caught us a little off gaurd as the response has been more than expected (not complaining however) and we don't want customers to wait.  Currently we are filling orders for them in about 2 - 3 weeks or less and we'd like to keep on that schedule.

If you can check back with me in a few months, we'll see what we can do.

Food for thought...

One person suggested they looked like a metronome.

As for an Obelisk, the most famous pair was commissioned by Ramses II and installed in the most spectaular temple site at Luxor (one of which was relocated to Place de la Concord in Paris).  They were both quarried in Aswan.

Cool - it's a nice set.  Good job finding a great flitch of such a large and nice mahogany crotch.

SetList
or SetList Towers

Also, I agree with the person who preferred a flat top.  Then again, that design it prevents drink ring formation.

Seems like one of the major design points was no parallel surfaces though...  A flat top would ruin that.

I have to agree that the pointed top could be made more pleasing.  Perhaps a flat surface set with a slight inclination from front to back would look better and provide a non-parallel surface.

edit: I hope this doesn't come accross like blasphemy!  Jim's work is truely amazing and I think whatever he creates will be awsome to look at.   :thumb:
