hey guys (and girls?)

I was thinking about australian made speakers - and got to wonder...... who is the best? - and what would you think are the finest aussie speakers (still in production)?

I'm not sure myself as I haven't heard many.

Ivan, no such thing as a single BEST speaker. What is best for YOU depends heavily on your personal listening preferences, the music you listen to, your listening room, any WAF restrictions, etc etc etc.

Your question is like asking which colour is best, or what sort of weather is best. The answer will be different from different people.

I've never heard any of these but they seem to have the right philosophies and ideas. I have no idea what would be the best Oz speaker but would have a feeling it could come from one of these guys.

Australian speakers do represent great value and can compete well with and in a lot of cases, much better than the imports.

about a year +1/2 ago I heard the Whatmough Paragon - I think they were about $30K  on Cairn gear- Grest dynamics and thumping bass  .....Very realistic: Reminded me of BW 801's (or what ever top of the line one is) on Audio reasearch gear. Shame i don't have $30K or a room that could fit the speakers.

Hi,

I remember listening to whatmough speakers here in perth over a decade ago.  I fell in love with the 201 series which used focal drivers and tweeters.  Apparently they don't sell speakers using these drivers anymore which is a pity.

The osborne speakers look like they use focal drivers.
