Magna Risers Airborne stands for my Maggie LRS
« on: 18 Feb 2020, 04:50 am »
I just received my Magna Risers Airborne stands for my Maggie LRS.

http://magnarisers.com/our-products.html

They are very well packed and came with great documentation.  Also included is a pair of jumper wires to replace the stock jumpers.  It’s obvious there’s alot of pride and TLC in the manufacturing of these stands.

After installing them my first thought is how beautiful the Airbornes are and how they greatly improve the look of the LRS.  This alone made them worth the price to me.

In terms of sonic improvements, here’s my initial impressions after listening to a variety music (speakers placed in same position as before);

Improved/clearer/larger soundstage
Improved imaging
Improved clarity top to bottom
Cleaner bass

I’m very happy with them so far and look forward to much more listening (too bad work cuts into my listening time!)!

I wouldn’t hesitate recommending them to any Maggie owner looking for a upgrade to their factory stands.

The Airbornes do look very cool. I opted for Robert's Multi Risers for my .7s. I'm super happy with them. He does really good work.

I had a set of Mye stands for my 1.6’s.  Worked fantastic.

I did not have a set of stands for the MMG’s I owned for a bit.

Those look nice and I’d bet are stable.

Nice!

They blend very well, IMO.  The center is an NHT 3 way sealed design (NHT Audio Center 2) that I’ve had for many years.

I was already looking into risers, so this makes up my mind. I wish they were a little less expensive, 1/3 of the price of the speaker itself.  :o

But still looks good and serves a purpose.

In terms of tweaks, this one is pretty cheap.

When you frame it as “1/3 of the price of the speaker”, it can seem like alot, but keep in mind how cheap the LRS is, especially in terms of performance you get for the money.

I have no regrets with the speakers and the stands, and still think they’re a great value at the total price paid.

Yeah, $240 is cheap all things considered. But I am trying to keep it that way. Price to performance ratio is off the charts at $650, at $900 it still is. I have told people that Magnepan is selling $2000 speakers for $650! Heck, they sound better than the $3000 Martin Logan ESL's I listen to all the time at my local HI-FI shop.

First I have to decide if I am keeping my LRS's or upgrading to the 1.7i's, if I do keep them I will get those stands. But I want to keep the upgrades to just that. I didn't realize everything you can upgrade on Maggie's. I mean some of it is quite ridiculous. Like $300 fuses and so on. Silliness.
