Yes we felt it was time for a change with our HT3, as good as it was we have now taken this compact 3 way to a new level.
Danny Richie of GR has just finished our new crossover for the HT3 along with a new mod to our HTFR design.

Crossover info for the HT3: The tweeter uses a 3rd order crossover blended to a Midrange 1st order crossed over at 2500Hz with a 2nd order network on the woofer.

Crossover info for the HTFR:The filter for the full range driver and the side firing driver is a simple 1st order crossover on the full range matched to a second order crossover on the woofer at 225HZ.This allows the best uncompressed sound from the full range driver yet adding low end frequency

We will offer upgrade crossover kits for those who would like to change the crossover in any HT3 kit or speakers.
Crossover upgrade info will be added to the site in the next day.

Many thanks to Danny for all his work in the design of the crossovers.

I loved your HT-1's Al.  I'm sure these new HT-3's are absolutely killer...  definately a speaker I'd love to add to the collection!

Yes as a fact all the parts are now in stock and we just got a pair going today.

Danny did a very good design with the crossover.
The old HT3 as it was designed long ago was about time for a change
And this new crossover brings out even more potental from the HT3.

And you have not seen the HTFR decay yet.So smooth for sure.

How would you describe the sonic differences between the HT3 and the HTFR?
Thanks, Ryan

Now remember this is a 4.5" full range driver no tweeter is used at all in the design.

How to compare the HT3 and HTFR.
The HTFR is really open and well balanced due to the fullrange driver.Just something about how co hearant a full range driver is.
Power handling is not as high as the HT3 due to the tweeter taking some of the load from the 4.5" driver. And the HT3 off axis is far cleaner and has a wider image area over the HTFR but really no full range driver will have a great off axis if the driver carries the bandwidth that the FR driver does.

The HTFR can yet be described as smooth and not fatiguing with a smooth recessed top end that many of the older ears would not miss at all from a vocal range that may be lacking due to hearing.

The HT3 wide sweet spot, wide imaging and depth.

The bottom end is the same on both the HTFR and HT3.

hey Al,

Is there any chance I can hear the HTFR in Calgary, Alberta. I am curious to see what a full range driver soounds like compared to a 2 way.

Did you make it over to listen to the LX II?

The HTFR we have a single demo pair going around and now they are being reviewed by Stereomojo in the US.
We could get a pair of RAWFR (full range bookshelf ) out to you to listen to if you would be interested.

Two Words:

1. In
2. Credible

(I love my pair...now I have to decide if I want to upgrade the crossover - good thing I built it externally...)
