you see the film didnt win one oscar for anything

That has way more to do with academy politics than the quality of the film.  Netflix films don't play in any major theater chains because they won't carry a film with the short theater to TV window Netflix uses.  And the academy is full of old school movie types unwilling to give credence to anything from a streaming service.

I really cant believe your saying this - the movie Parasite that won about 3-5 awards - is so far away from being a mainstream film

and from a south korean director nontheless and in subtitles to boot.

enough with pacino and pesci and deniro playing mob figures - its all been done before and much better

I agree it’s been done before and should end now. Done better? Maybe, maybe not. Done differently is more accurate IMO.

It’s really interesting to see how people are so divided on this one. It’s most likely Scorsese, DeNiro and Pesci’s last hurrah together. I think it’s quite fitting of a movie for that. I really liked it. While it definitely has its similarities to Goodfellas and Casino, it definitely has enough differences to stand on its own. I personally think Goodfellas and Casino were too similar, but that’s just me.

But it's not from Netflix, a streaming service, which I said the predjudice was for.  And major theater chains played it.  Yes, a little arty for the Academy, but the platform was traditional.

To be eligible, a movie must have a theatrical release.  Which The Irishman did, back in November.
