Le Amp 2 - will it trip my household supply?
« on: 4 Jun 2003, 08:31 am »
Hi!

Due to the current position of my Hifi equipment I will have to run (i have already ordered) the Le Amp 2 monoblocks (2 units) off a single wall socket of 220V which is now also shared by a TV, DVD, and a tuner.  The monoblocks will replace an aging Pioneer A400x amp (60wts).  I have no problems with the electricity supply with the Pioneer setup.  Will this trip my household supply due to the current demands?

thanks!

No.

Say both your amps are playing REALLY  loud and drawing 1500W between the two of them. At 220V, thats still less than 7A. Your TV will draw maybe an amp, and the DVD, tuner draw next to nothing, in the order of maybe 100W for both.

Most fuses are 10A for 240V, I assume 220V would be the same. You would really have to be pushing the system to the extreme (and then some) to even come close IMO.

BTW, its not 10A for the entire house, just for that circuit, one of many in your house.
