W4S SX-1000  old class D

I can see a ferrite to the four speakers wires.

Do not buy them. Class D only with new technology.

From my active speaker experience, go with what the designer uses (AVA), period.

Wives can be trained.  Is there such a thing as an add-on trigger?

I gotcha Maty, but I’m not sure how to tell whats comsidered new class D. Are the Wyred4sound  sti-500 mii new class D? Also, I see that PS audio would let me trade in my Parasound A23 at full $999 value for a S300, which is 150 watts and looks to be “new” class D.

I agree with you, but I doubt I will win this one. I did not have the correct cable and had to use the Parasound without a 12v trigger for a few days, I rather not have that headache again.

The issue with a power strip with a volt trigfer is that depending on the amp it might not be a great idea to turn it on and offer via the power strip it self. Also I would prefer to have it plugged directly into the outlet if possibe. Maybe Frank has a solution for my 12v trigger dilemma.

Only the new class D are good to play very good records.

Woofer or subwoofer with old class D is OK but not the tweeter. If you listen only commercial music or films, the old class D is OK too.

S300 -> IcePower 300AS. From... 2004.

If you want to pay less $2000, only you have two options with new class D modules:

* IcePower 1200AS2

* Hypex NC500 + good buffer + good PSU

You can try to order some of them or AVA with trigger. Ask.

Which preamp do you have?

NuPrime doesn't use any of these modules for their in house class D amps, several are below $2000, a couple are below $1000.

What is a 12V trigger and why is it needed/wanted?  :scratch:

Thank you for the explanation, I think I understand a little better now. A 12v trigger allows the amplifier to be turned on by the pre-amp when it is turned on via the pre-amp's 12v trigger output.
Are the W4S ST-500 mark 2 also using old module, where do I find this out?

Get yourself a SurgeX then. It may improve the sound of your system like it did mine.

I think it is simple learning:

ON

1º Turn on the preamp

2º Turn on the poweramp

OFF

1º Turn off the poweramp

2º Turn off the preamp

It is more complicated to use an AVR, a mobile or how to send photos from the messaging program  :P
