Hi from New Zealand
« on: 1 Jun 2020, 09:05 am »
I've been following the GR research posts after discovering them last week. I've got an old set of JBL L40s I bought in 1979 for NZ$1000 (I guess about $8k in today's money!).

I haven't played them for years but still can't bring myself to get rid of them. I've blown 1 set of tweeters ( 1st year of ownership - severe clipping from a crappy amp) and re-coned woofers about 25 years ago.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Thank you! Currently transplanted fom the North (Wellington) to the South (Marlborough Sounds) and I agree :)

I went to uni in Palmerston North and was lucky enough to go to the Plinius workshop when it was there a number of times.

My Plinius MA102's, the monoblock forerunner to the SA100, were actually Peter Thompson's.  Prior to this I had their 2.4 and 760 combination.  My son has them now and are still going strong 30 years on!
