Jan Garbarek-Bobo Stenson Quartet with Palle Danielsson, bass, and Jon Christensen, drums- Witchi-Ta-To (ECM). Desireless from this album by Don Cherry just kills. Just buy it for this lengthy tune alone. That composition and Bobo's playing is for all time to me. Seriously extraordinary and penetrating, but not without his accompaniment, geez! A trillion stars for this tune alone. These are some of the crème of European jazz players from the 70's and 80's which may never be equaled.

Thanks Jim for reminding me of Garbarek ........ listening now, indeed nice music.

Jan Garbarek (born March 4, 1947 in Mysen, Norway) a Norwegian tenor and soprano saxophonist, active in the jazz, classical, and world music genres. Garbarek was the only child of former Polish prisoner of war, and a Norwegian farmer's daughter. Garbarek grew up in Oslo. At 21, he married Vigdis. Their daughter Anja Garbarek is also a musician. Garbarek's sound is one of the hallmarks of the ECM record label, which has released virtually all of his recordings.

Bernardo Sassetti Trio - Ascent

Bernardo Sassetti (June 24, 1970 - May 10, 2012) was a portuguese pianist and composer. Sassetti began studying classical piano at the age of 9. In 1987, he begins playing jazz professionally, studying with musicians like Zé Eduardo, Horace Parlan and Sir Roland Hanna and playing with the Carlos Martins quartet and the Moreiras Jazztet. In the first 15 years of his carrer, he played all over the world with musicians like Al Grey, Frank Lucy, Andy Sheppard, Paquito D’Rivera and Benny Golson.
