BDA-3 question
« on: 21 Dec 2020, 05:39 am »
I'am a newbi here.

My components are, since July 2020:

•   4B3 Amp
•   BP-173 Pre-amp
•   BDA-3 DAC
•   BDP-3 Digital Music Player, with an internal 2TB SSD drive

My music collection is copied from my computer onto the BDP-3 Internal SSD Drive with a 1GB Ethernet connexion.
I listen my collection from the USB port, from the BDP.

I am a little uncomfortable coming here with my question, but after a couple of bad moves in Manic Moose, I lost my music collection on the BDP-3 SSD.
Normally, it shoulnd't be a problem because I have the original Collection on my PC and a couple of backups available.
The problem is that the BDA-3 DAC is not visible any more on my network. It's like if I had lost the connexion and I can't copy my collection on my BDP internal SSD, using my ethernet connexion.

I like to listen music, but I' m far from being a specialist in network connection. But, when I navigate inside my network hub (the modem), I can see that the BDA3 is still there. But it is not visible in the Windows Explorer.
Does someone has a clue about how to find and make my BDA-3 visible in my Windows Explorer, and how to add it to the network?

Thank you for allowing me to participate in the forum. :)

Yes, I have here a 1GB connexion which I think is the equivalent of FIOS 1G.

My music collection is stored on an internal SSD drive inside my BDP-3 player.
I use a USB cable to connect my BDP-3, from USB 2.0, to my BDA-3 DAC USB 1 input.
It was OK since July 2020 when I bought my Bryston components. But 10 days ago, right at the beginning of the Holidays, the DAC USB input did stop working.

I don’t know exactly how to describe the problem but the BDA-3 seems not able to receive the signal from the music player. The led indicating the sample rate and the led indicating « lock » on the BD-A-3 stay off. As a result: no music during the Holidays.  8)

HDMI input seems to be O.K., I can hear the TV.

I can access my music player through the Dashboard, and see my disk information. I can also browse through my music collection. The Firmware is up to date.
It should be playing, but it does not.

Does anyone have seen this problem?  Any comments, suggestions?

In addition, I keep hearing noise through my right speaker when I turn the TV on or off.
Do you have any comments or suggestion about these quirks and pops noises? Could they eventually damage one of the components or a speaker?

Thanks,

bjski

Have you tried unplugging BDP-3 along with BDA-3? Try not to plug Brystons into the modem us a gigabit switch. Reboot the router and the modem. Every time there is a power surge (I'm using a Bit-20)   I lose 2, BDP-3 along with the BDA-3's on my network using windows 10.

I also went into computer administrative settings in windows 10 and checked off every box involving the network.

One BDP-3 claims "Device undefined not connecting for unknown reason" The other BDP-3 "BDP at nominal operation" when I type in their IP address  for both BDP-3's they both work fine along with the BDA's. They show up in my network which is what I really want. If I assign them a IP address I have networking problems with windows 10.

Ever since I went to fios 1G and used their equipment there has been problems with my bryston's windows 10....

Good luck
