Stereo 70 #1 - "Nothin' Fancy"

Here are numerous pictures of the first Stereo 70 I have refurbished and rebuilt.
Thumbnail for Dynaco Stereo 70 - Top of Driver Board - This thing was originally pretty messy. It cleaned up quite nicely, didn't it? Note the NOS Allen-Bradley resistors - all matched within 0.1%!
Thumbnail for Dynaco Stereo 70 - Bottom of Driver Board and associated wiring. - Note that the Power Take-Off sockets are not wired except for the "biaset" connection. (In order to keep hum and noise to a minimum.) The "grid stopper" resistors are arranged the way Dynaco factory-wired the Stereo 70. Also note the Spectrol 10-turn bias potentiometers and the 2 Watt resistors associated with the main B supply.
Thumbnail for Dynaco Stereo 70 - Bottom of amplifier. - This overall shot shows the wiring, and also shows the condition of the inside of the chassis.
Thumbnail for The "Classic" Dynaco Stereo 70 pose - cover removed. - Note the Mullard (branded GE) GZ 34/5AR 4, the two NOS matched RCA 7199's and the factory-matched quad of Electro-Harmonix EL34EH Output tubes. Nothin' fancy here! Just a good, solid, dependable amplifier.
Thumbnail for "Nothin' Fancy" - with cover. - Allow me to introduce you to "Nothin' Fancy." A rock-solid Stereo 70! It is certainly NOT a "perfect" amplifier. The cosmetics are a solid Grade "B", but the SOUND is Grade "A" all the way! It might not be cosmetically *perfect*, but you certainly won't be ashamed to show it to your friends.
Thumbnail for Dynaco Stereo 70 - Rear of amplifier. - Here is a picture of the back of the amplifier. Nothin' Fancy going on here either. Note the original (restored) Dynaco Power Cord.
