Tweeter Resisters on SS9.5
« on: 31 Mar 2022, 08:07 pm »
Wondering if any SS9.5 owners are using the attenuating resisters on their tweeters and if so is the result noticeable or just marginal?

Just a note, these resistors were supplied with the speakers.

I take it you bought the speakers used? They don't normally come with separate resistors.

Resistors and instructions supplied to attenuate tweeters if desired.
Just wondering if any owners had installed them.

I have the very first pair Jim sold, and they didn't come with resistors. I'm wondering - did you get a special bi-wirable build?

No bi-wire, just single pairs on each.
Not sure where these stand in SS9.5 production.

Normally we do not ship resistors with speakers as they really aren't needed in most cases.  We voice our speakers to be flat and accurate as possible.  But some people are overly sensitive to high frequency sounds or are in extremely lively rooms with no acoustic treatment.

In those cases, we can supply resistors that will reduce the output of the tweeter.  The resulting speaker will no longer measure flat and accurate but will address this situation.  So we only supply them when the situation warrants (which in most cases do not).
