Performance of MicroTAP vs. TAP-X
« on: 10 Feb 2009, 06:23 pm »
Hi John,

I'm longing for a new preamp.  I have one balanced source, so I don't need multiple inputs.  Is there any advantage of the TAP-X over the MicroTAP, or vice versa?  Fully balanced is quite important to me, since I run a 3-way active system with a veritable jungle of interconnects and power cords.

Thank you!

Hello!

Most would figure the Autoformer based TAP-X to be preferred over the Resistor based MicroTAP. One input systems like yours are nice and clean - most the bal TAP-X units I have built have been for single source systems with pro audio (ATC, etc) bal input active speakers - kind of the all in one box version of the active system you run.

BTW - I do run 3 or even 4 way active systems from time to time here - I can relate to the jungle of cables you are dealing with!

I do have a couple bal TAP-X units around right  now - if you wanted to give one a go call or e-mail and we can discuss the details.

Thansk!

John
