Like a few here, got to learn about Art Pepper thru the "Bosch" detective series on amazon.
Great scene at his overlook house in L.A.  Art Pepper playing Patricia softly on vinyl, MAC 240 for that great mid range power, distant nite lites.  Wrote the song for his estranged daughter as a way to ask for forgiveness for his fucked up life.  Must have played this tune over 100 times this past month.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXNpG0w_rks

Among the many great albums this thread has introduced me to.

I kind of feel like I should start at page 1.  Thankfully, streaming services make suggestions in this thread a breeze to check out.

     Thanks all!

Connie Evingson "Fever" ... a tribute to Peggy Lee.
This may be the finest jazz singer I've ever heard.

I had never heard of her.  I'm checking out the different Connie Evingson albums now.

   Really good suggestion, thanks!

I've been listening to 'Chops' by Joe Pass and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen. It's not the clearest sounding recording in the world, but there is something quite special and comforting about how it sounds. It's hard to describe, but I've really been enjoying it! As always Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen playing is quite the experience, I really enjoy how relaxed yet tight and "fluid" his playing is.

Great description of NHOP.  I just played "The Viking" with Philip Catherine playing guitar.  Their version of My Funny Valentine is one of my favorites

I have Charles Lloyd - Forest Flower on the table. Recorded live at the Monterey Jazz Festival, (I think 1966).  Speakers Corner Records. Very nice!
