I have a Schiit ASGARD SS amp for 3 months + now.
Compared with several other amps, both SS and tubes.
The ASGARD is as good if not better than most I have listened to.

Using it with a pair of AKG 702's and there is no lack if bass response...

All the best
Alex

So how do you pronounce Schiit?  Would it be drawn out like a southern "scheeit" or a northern short "schit?"   8)

 no schiit
 ah schiit
?? schiit Jr. making the dad a Schiit Sr.
hot schiit-the daughter

There is a schiitload of great names here....

Remember, the two designers are from Theta and Sumo. These two lines never sounded like Schiit, always very musical and three dimensional.

Schiit has to be a great buy.

The Asgard I just sold was wonderful, but I bought a pair of LCD2's and ordered a LYR. I was able to listen to the ASGARD for several days with the LCD'2..it drove them well.

I am very curious about the Lyr, as I have the hard-to-drive HiFiMan HE-5LEs. I used them with an Asgaard for a while before stepping up to the fabulous, and balanced, Little Dot MkVI (a stunning tube amp). While the Lyr is not balanced and is a hybrid design, I'd still like to compare it to my VI.

It's called "Asgard" and not "Head"!?  There's no justice!

Just a heads up - The Schiit Lyr was just reviewed on Digital Audio Review: http://www.digitalaudioreview.net.au/index.php/audio-reviews/desktop-audio-reviews/item/268-schiit-lyr-headphone-amplifier

Solid read with some comparisons.

Well we have had the new Lyr for a few days now 10 hours or so play time. I have another thread with the results with a pair of LCD2's.

Short story this is really well built and awesome amp.

Its six watts of Class A RMS power makes things play very well.

Its a very heavy, very solid built device.

Wonderful ceramic tube sockets..

It can be used as a preamp as well.

It can drive anyting out there....well

The peak design point is 6 watts at 32ohms, about 4 watts at 50 ohms for my LCD2's.
It will drive almost anything out there.

That said its not the best choice for Ultrasones and Denon...ie low impedance cans.

Just swapped out the supplied 6BZ7's with a matched set of EH6922's and they have improved the overall performance with this Lyr amp. The 6BZ7's were awesome and I didnt think they could be bested but the 6922's I got really opened things up.

The openess and depth and the ability to hear minute details and stuff way in the background seems vastly improved.. The live performances sound well.... like live performances the handclapping and ambience...very nice.

This all could be placebo effect, but I will listen for several days and swap back and see how the original tubes signature sound ...

Aint technology wonderful!

All thes best

I was wondering because some guys were having some humming when using low impedance cans, and i've been curious.

Yes there a person on another forum that has experienced a humming with low impedance cans but i think his issue is a bad set of tubes, bad ground in amp or house wiring, unfortunately this guy lives way up in nowhere in Washington state.

Some of the other guys on that forum did try low impedance cans with no humming...

It drives my LCD2's 50 ohms and Audio Technica M50s 38 ohms, but be careful cranking up the volume knob.

The Lyr will drive the most difficult Orhtos...4 watts at 50 ohms I believe....
