Pretty much what the title says...

I have a new pj showing up on Friday and I am curious to see what Blu-ray people would use for that initial viewing.

Avatar wouldn't be bad.    :thumb:

The PQ thread on AVS has about fifty in their tier "zero" category, and more than half are animation.

"Baraka" is about the best looking and sounding blu-ray I've encountered. Not to everyone's taste though.

How about "The Fall"? Visually stunning, interesting storytelling.

I watched Avatar at home last night, on BR.  It's also a good demo, though CGI.

Casino Royale
UP

All three have great color saturation.
They also look 3D on a projector because of the depth each portrays.

Visually, Avatar is the very best Blu Ray ever released.

Keep the recommendations coming....

Just watched Avatar when it came out a few weeks ago, but maybe that will be the first.

It'll cost you about $100, but the BBC "Planet" series is very stunning.
Six discs in the series, very cool.

Congrats on the new toy George!

Best Blu-rays I've seen:
 Avatar
 Transformers-Revenge of the Fallen
 Hellboy II-Golden Army
 Blade Runner-Directors Cut
 Fantastic 4-Silver Surfer

Watched Avatar last night.  I feel Braveheart has had the best video I have seen on BD yet, truly an excellent transfer.  I did think that the audio for Avatar may be the best I have heard to date.

Best,

Avatar is a great suggestion, as is UP... excellent color saturation there.  Ratatouille and Cars are also great animated transfers for showing off colors...

So what projector did you end up with?  I tried to live with a lesser projector after letting my Infocus 777/135" Firehawk combo go a couple years back.  I tried to live with the LCD cheapies...  I saw 10 minutes of the JVC RS25 and had to have one.  some of the best money I've ever spent in the hobby.  It's a dream to calibrate and the picture is stunning...  Every time I fire it up, even the better half comments on how great the picture is now.

Epson 8500UB ( a "poor" man's JVC).

If funding allowed it, I would buy the JVC RS25 in a heartbeat.  I have friends who have the RS10 and RS20 models and they are stunning.

I will be using the Epson with my current screen (110" Sm/X Acoustically transparent screen).

Here is a quick pic of the screen:

A second for Baraka. Awesome cinematography.

The movie is a series of short vignettes so there should be something for everyone to see.
