I am having to reorganize and repurpose space at home and am consolidating down to a headphone system. I’ve been hesitating to post this Pass Labs XA-25 amp.
Steve Gutenberg still uses it as a reference, and it is one of those timeless amp designs that works well in a lot of systems. It turned out that the fully balanced XLR output from my Holo May DAC was optimal, and the XA-25 has RCA inputs. The 15” mid/woofers on my M3 Sapphires dipping to 3.x Ohms did benefit from a bit more power as well, but only in direct comparison. The XA-25 can drive some real bass.
I had some very nice music coming from the XA-25, and in many systems it would provide the benefit of Class A without the excessive heat as the wattage increases. Although Pass Labs rates it at 25 watts, Stereophile measures it at 50 watts before it reaches their 1% distortion cutoff for power ratings. It needs some clearance to breathe, but it’s not unusable in the summer, in my experience.
If anyone is interested in a local pickup, I’m in the Washington, D.C., region. However, I have the original boxes and packaging material, so shipping is ok.
$3,800 plus shipping (if applicable). Payment by Zelle or PayPal friends and family.
I am the original owner, and I purchased it new from Moon Audio in February last year (2022). It’s broken in, and I used it as my main amp for 6 months.
It is in excellent condition. It has no marks on it, and looks like it did when I got it.
