Looks to be a great collection, Chris...but does it include the remastered versions?

I didn't see any mention of remastering in the description.

Here's the remastered version HM mentioned, as well as the follow-up CD he likes better.

If you like those, you may want to take at look at this, too.  Good stuff, if you like Bossa Nova.

Yep I should have mentioned that as well.  These 3 are on constant rotation for me.

OR.... you can get the whole set by Getz.....all in one shot....I've got it both ways...

My Verve edition of the 4-disc box set arrived yesterday from Amazon UK, and Kandy and I stayed up till well past midnight listening.  Excellent recordings (remasters) and music.  If you're a Bossa Nova fan, this is definitely a great way to go.

Thanks for the suggestion, my friend.  :thumb:

Double Ugly.. you're one smart ass!

I've been searching all over the place on ebay, amazon.com, bmgmusic, half.com and the best price I can get for this boxset is $40.. I didn't check the amazon.co.uk website, apparently you can get it delivered to your door for $22!!!!

I bought the jazz samba, and Getz/Gilberto CD separately, next I have to pick up Jazz Samba Enchore, and I have to look for the other album that's the same as the 4th CD on this boxset.

Sorry, Barry.  I thought I'd mentioned what I was getting and where earlier in the thread, but I see now that I didn't.   :(

Check out Elis and Tom with Brazilian singer Elis Regina.  It's a collaboration between one of Brazil's most gifted singers (Elis) and one of the creators of the Bossa Nova genre, Antonio Carlos (Tom) Jobim.

Be sure to read the reviews on Amazon and Elis' bio (both linked above)...impressive stuff.

First....an interesting story on the Bossa Nova..... :D
And a few cds to listen to...
Three Way Mirror.....an old fav of mine...excellent sounding cd as well.
A nice one from Flora Purim ....the Queen of Brazilian Soul .
Another good collection from Astrud Gilberto......the Ipanema girl.
Want a sweet voice....Ana Caram...... 8)
Relax....this woman plays guitar...Badi Assad......and can she play. :guitar:
OK....He's not a woman, and another Chesky release...but they sound soooo good.....Luiz Bonfa......good tunes.
And....as the article mentions "the first Brazilian female singer to sell hundreds of thousands of albums on a consistent basis"...that would be the late Clara Nunes.....on EMI.
Those are a good starting points. Or....since its summer here, maybe a little summertime blues......  :jester:
Happy listening....
Links are to Amazon....so you can hear the samples... :bounce:

Corinne Bailey Rae

She has good vocals and I do like the self-titled CD but I wish she
would team up with a good jazz band.
