Hi,

I'm Percyspaul, I have just joined from London UK.

I have a Bryston BDA-3 and I am trying to figure out how to put my TV sound thru the speakers.
i use a Yamaha BD-A1020 to play CD, Bluray and DVD to my preamp and on to the speakers. I can get a DVD to play on my TV and thru the speakers but I can't figure out how and what HMDI cables to use. The owners manual is not much help. I need a simple idiot proof explanation. What goes from the TV to the bluray player, what goes from the bluray to the Bryston etc.
Could some kind soul take pity on a frustrated Bryston owner, who knows how to play a record pretty well but can't get sound from his TV to his speaker. There must be a post somewhere that can help.
The reward is a warm glow inside from the satisfaction of having helped a fellow human.

Welcome to AudioCircle, Percyspaul!

What works well for me (with different brand equipment) is this:

BluRay > HDMI > TV
and
TV > Toslink optical cable > BDA3

Set the TV to the HDMI input corresponding to BluRay player
Set the BDA3 to toslink input.

This arrangement has the advantage of allowing internet content streamed by smart TV to also play on stereo.

Just added the toslink cable to my system and it came to life!!!

I don't understand the physics but it works. Now watching/listening to Paul McCartney at Glastonbury.

Awesome and amazing!!!

Thank you Richidoo.
