Who's your vote for Coolest Looking Guitar Player?
My vote KK Downing from Judas Priest

''Coolest looking''?
These HM bands have the habit of playing with open legs I imagine it is a severe muscular disorder.

The guys have just never appealed to me... not that there's anything wrong with that.

You get an interesting thought in your head... yadda yadda yadda it's now a message board post.
I'd have to put in a vote for Lemme. Yes I know, he was a bass guitar player, but just looking at him you knew he had some crazy stories to tell.
-
Whew Iam more relieved now.
I always liked Joanna Connor when young, looks like she has gone on a diet and lose weight now.

Re: Coolest Looking Guitar Player
Another for Lemmy
Lemmy had his ashes put in bullets and given to his closest friends, because he was Lemmy f*cking Kilmister.......
-
When I was a kid I always wanted to unzip Suzi Quatro's leather suit to see what was under there.
That somehow led to me looking for a funny picture of Adrian Belew in a dress when he was in Zappa's band (which I found in this really good article):
https://musicaficionado.blog/2020/02/20/adrian-belew-part-1-1976-1980/
I always thought Johnny Winter looked the part with that Firebird

Lemmy was "the Coolest and the most Loved" 6 stringer bass player on the planet, period.

Thanks for that link Steve, I read all three parts on Belew. Good stuff.
I should have left this for those not familiar with Buckethead. This cut is with Les Claypool, pretty damn cool too.

Ok, what rock have I been living under? So good. Definitely going on PirateBay to download some of that right now. One of the best things about this site is having all sorts of suggestions for music to listen to. I've been pleasantly surprised on more than a few occasions. :thumb:

Tony Iommi
Interesting Wikipedia Fact:
"At the age of 17, Iommi lost the tips of the middle and ring fingers of his right hand in an industrial accident on his last day of work in a sheet metal factory.Iommi described how he "was told 'you'll never play again'. It was just unbelievable. I sat in the hospital with my hand in this bag and I thought, that's it – I'm finished. But eventually I thought 'I'm not going to accept that.He ultimately decided to continue playing left-handed. To do so, he fitted homemade thimbles to his injured fingers to extend and protect them; the thimbles were made from an old Fairy Liquid bottle – "melted it down, got a hot soldering iron and shaped it like a finger" – and cut sections from a leather jacket to cover his new homemade prosthetic. And the Legend was born...

Are you from Buffalo? I had a couple of their records back in the day, but was too young to have caught them when they played fairly regularly in my area (Popeye’s was the place, IIRC).

Yes I am, I had some fake ID and in those days, they barely cared to check. I was 17 in 1975 and would catch them routinely at the Barrelhead in W.S., but there were soooo many places that they played. At that time (this was pre Van Halen, nationally), there wasn’t anyone that played like this anywhere.
I saw RTF with Stanley Clark and Weather Report with Jaco. Both of whom are in a completely different league in terms of technical ability, but Sheehan was no slouch and his style was incredible. I feel fortunate that I got to watch him as often as I did.

Certainly the greatest nice guy in rock, at the peak of the Stones success in 1970s an obscure music reporter met Keith at the Miami airport and expected to be ignored, to his surprise Keith replied as if he were an old friend:
-Iam going to Swiss to get my blood changed...

For me, coolness comes from skill, chops, ability to communicate, emotional content, unique voice and language. Not from wearing the right clothes, or hitting the right pose.
Two quick examples:
Allan Holdsworth

Fair enough, but the title of this thread is coolest "looking", so, it's all about the right clothes and pose. :thumb:

If you've never heard - and seen - his version of 1952 Vincent Black Lightning, check it out on YouTube, then go take a shower...
