Nice heads up.  For those looking at an orthodynamic this is worth your consideration.  Excellent sonic qualities and you don't have to drop a ton of C notes to own it.  :thumb:

The HE400 and 560 are become very affordable lately mainly considering its SQ, I may considering an 560 in the future (if I follow the headphones road).

These prices for the 400i are destroying the resale value of these phones.  I will never, ever, buy a Hifiman product at full retail again, just wait for the massive discount.

Years ago when car was a luxury item buy a new car and sell it 1 or 2 years later gave a profit, today car is no longer investment, Dr. Fang Bi an did the same thing with the HPs, he democratized the planar technology.

Iam grateful to him for having made such a modern sales policy.
His dynamic model HE350 yet available at Massdrop even have a 50mm speaker, the same size as the expensive Seenheiser HD800 at a fraction of the price.

In my experience if you have a HE400 or 560 you can driver it direct from any CD Player, the HE400 will need an CD Player with volume pot to attenuate the signal, the 560 seems is on the average level.

You could say the same about the hd600 & hd650 which have dropped dramatically recently, maybe by half IIRC.

The HE400-S released in 2015 came from the HE560;
The HE400-i released in 2014 came from the HE400 original.

Back down to $149.99 on the buydig eBay listing. These sound AMAZING with the iFi Audio Nano iDSD Black Label Portable DAC and Headphone Amplifier!
