Three-Post Speaker Stands
« on: 7 Apr 2004, 12:23 am »
I have my IB1's on Bryston 3-post speaker stands with the single post at the back. Now that my mega flexy-rack is done I'm going to be doing some re-arranging. Is there any acoustical reason why the single post couldn't be at the front ? If not, has anybody tried this ? Does it look any better ?

I find when I look at the speakers, they look like they are crooked on the stands. It's just an illusion. Since I will be re-arranging soon, I thought I might try reversing the stands.

Thanks.

Levi

Actually they look like they are rotated in the horizontal plane when you look at the speakers at any angle except on axis. It's just an illusion because I measured everything. The illusion makes it look  like the rear single rear post is closer to one edge of the speaker than the other.  It catches my eye every now and then for some reason. Obviously not a major issue - just curious.

Hi,

Usually with a 3 post stand the front uses the 2 legs only because most of the weight is up-front.
