Newbie intro
« on: 7 Apr 2024, 01:15 am »
I’ve been interested in audio since high school but had a hiatus with good stereo for about 40 years. I’ve recently gotten back into it and have bought some vintage gear, e.g. ADS L780 speakers and a Cambridge Audio azur 640A integrated amp. So not real high end, but at this point my listening room is an unfinished basement so it’s probably not worth investing in better stuff now. I hope to build a dedicated listening room in the next couple of years so may upgrade then.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome to AC, hi end can mean hi price, mainly using low sensitivity speakers.

Welcome!

Wise words about the acoustic importance of the room.  19 years ago we built a house that I incorporated a listening studio in.  Didn't cost much but the design was invaluable.  Get the size and proportions right, and fully insulate.  I included an exterior fiberglass door with weather seal and flexible lined ductwork.
