Sorry if this has been covered before, but there have been two stories about the Okto dac8 Stereo: 1) its Stereophile A+ Recommended Components rating at a cost of just $1500; and 2) the delay of up to four months between ordering and shipping.
The delay, however, is no more.
I ordered a dac8 Stereo on July 24 and received it on August 1, and that included a one-day hold in U.S. Customs while they located import documentation. Cost was US$1510, including shipping. Pavel Krasensky, the owner of Okto Research, emailed me that they "are no longer experiencing delays."
Even with no burn-in it's sounding great!
