This pre/pro is way beyond my budget but it is for charity and I would have to think that it offers great sonics.

Check it out at Ebay auction # 3042895736

Arghhhhhhhh

If it's anything like past Fosgate products it will probably sound great but be loaded with idosyncratic operational and reliability "features".

Yes, you add your own dd/dts from your source and/or sacd dvd-a from the source.
In other words this is a pure audiophool design whith no built in digital and little chance of bugs.

Yes.

Owned Models Three and Five analog surround processors.
Have also used the Harman AVP2 Model Four clone plus the Citation 7.0.

All sounded good to great but all also had problems ranging from dodgy ergonomics to excessive electrical noise to remotes that had a range of about 1 meter.

I've owned the Model 3A and the 7.0    I thought they were excellent sounding processors although the 7.0 is a little quircky at times. Probably par fot it's time. I don't know how this new tube processor  sounds but there's no way I'd spend that kind of money on it.
