Rava SE crossover hookup question
« on: 17 Jan 2003, 11:49 pm »
This question came up in the nOrh forum, but I think that this is a better place for it. As I understand, the Rava SE has line level outputs with an adjustable crossover. If you have separates or an integrated amp with preamp outs and main ins, you can connect as follows...

Source > Preamp > RavaSE > High pass crossover > Main amps > Main speakers

So far so good, right? Well, what if you don't have those ins and outs on your integrated? I don't, but I have a couple of tape loops so I got this crazy idea...

Source > AmpInput1 > AmpTapeOutput > RavaSE > High pass crossover > AmpInput2 > Main Speakers

Set amp to Record Input 1, Listen to Input 2.

Have I made this totally confusing?
Can this connection scheme work to maintain 1 volume control on the integrated?

Boy, I need a beer.

Jack,

Typically doesn't work right.  The problem is that the record loops are usually not volume controlled, so that means you'll have to adjust the main amp's volume AND the Rava SE's volume to get it balanced right, every time you want to change the volume.
