The knobs appear to be not original Dyna, but an asking price would help some people decide if they are in fact interested.

I owned one of these back in the day and can attest that to this day, I have never heard better FM.

The knobs are original - just painted black, as they came off another custom FM-5 that I had - here is a picture of the silver knobs with a custom rack mount front I made.  This comes with it.  I would like to get $225.

Thanks,

John R.

You have to have two posts first, but maybe it could be moved on that basis.

Frank should bring this back, or maybe he could design his own.

RF radio stations are being phased out, so demand for tuners will continue to drop.

How could he bring them back when they are no longer made?

I think Magnum Dynalab is still at it and somebody mentioned a Yamaha tuner the last time that question came up, but FM is seemingly becoming obsolescent as a high fidelity source, because of both a dearth of hardware and a scarcity of quality broadcast sources (Norway has ended FM broadcasts entirely).

The tuner in the OP is probably a good deal if it works well, but you can't be sure about how long a 40+ y.o. FM front end is going to hold up.

In many countries it is expected that DAB+ will gradually replace FM radio. Norway was the first country to announce national FM radio analog switchoff that is gong on now, county after county during 2017. People who care about sound quality don't like DAB+.

Edwin Armstrong was probably an idiot, then. David Sarnoff was the genius.

Alexander Graham Bell did not win the competition with the telegraph. Samuel Finley Breese Morse's invention is the basis for all the digital-based communication we have today.
