If I remember correctly the Marantz 2270 was made in Sun Valley for a while and then production was shifted to Japan.  I saw one the other day that had Chatsworth, CA USA on the back plate above the serial number.  Is this the way those made in Japan were labeled or was there another USA production site?

Chatsworth was the manufacturing location for awhile. My 3300 and 240 were made there.

My father's 2220B has a plate on the back that says 'Designed in Chatsworth, California' and says 'Made in Japan' in the opposite corner.

My guess is that they were originally made in CA, then production was moved to Japan.  If I'm not mistaken, Marantz was bought and sold a few times during this period.  That's is probably the reason why.
