Since this week my BDP-3 crashes when it is updating mine external usb HDD.
When I don't put in the external usb HDD then it updates without crashing.

After I attache the usb HDD again and do an update, the player crashes again.

What steps can I take so I can do an full update again?

We can take a look at it via service mode. Enable service mode, e-mail/PM me or unincognito the service ID and plug the external HD in.

I plugged in the backup external HDD with exactly the same music (I just copied all from the original HDD to this backup) and this one also crashes but restarts after I put MPD on again.
The original HDD didn't show any content after it crashed but the backup HDD does. But it only shows the music from before I copied the new content from the original HDD. In other words it doesn't show the new music.

I put it in service mode an I will email you the id.
