Be sure to stop by and check out LampizatOr's exhibit!

In the Monroe room we will have our universally praised Big 7 as we team up with Salk Audio, Wells Audio Danacables and Gingko audio to deliver what promises to be a knock out room.

In addition we will have our beloved Level 4 DAC teamed with Wells' new headphone amplifier and Danacables wiring.   This is a must hear for the headphone crowd!

As CapFest doesn't have a dedicated circle, I can't start a thread in the general Audio Shows circle.  I would like to post pictures and impressions of my time at this show.  Would it be okay to start filling up this thread or is there a better way to do this without the info getting all mixed up?

You've got about three hours before this site shuts down until sometime on Sept 1st.

Jonathon,

Pictures would be much appreciated.  :thumb: I suggest starting a new thread with pictures in the title and invite other attendees to post also.

Don, that's the issue.  I can't start a thread in this circle, and CAF doesn't have its own circle to post threads in.  Any help/ideas from the facilitators?  I've got nine rooms down, probably get another one or two tonight, then on to tomorrow and Sunday.  I'm actually shooting for visiting and noting every room at the gig.  :thumb:  Might have to wait until after the reboot to post it all, though, as I don't want to make a mess of this thread.

Back to work!  I'll check in after the show wraps up for the day to see what's up. :)

Jonathon,

I get it now.  Have fun first.  Don't let trying to cover the entire show interfere with spending more time where you want to.

I have some pictures I posted in the Odyssey and Modwright threads. I have pictures taken with a real camera too but won't be able to post those until I'm home vs what have in a separate gallery I took with the iPhone 6

No worries there.  :green:  For me, putting in the work is part of the fun.

Pete at Triode Wire Labs just gave me the go ahead to take up some real estate in his circle if need be.  We can sort out moving the thread later if the facilitators want to.

I'll try to get stuff rolling before the reboot, but I'm heading to dinner with some folks.  If I don't get y'all before hand, I'll catch you on the other side!

I'm still recovering from surgery so won't be able to make it.
Could you give a review of the GT planars?

I stopped in to say hey to Rich a few minutes ago.  First blush is darn good.  I'm going to do an actual demo tomorrow.  Anything you want to know in particular?  I'll have the info up after the reboot.

Yes, how well does the built-in sub integrate to the rest of the panel (does it call attention to itself), if the sub is disconnected how does the rest of the panel sound (how much does the sub contribute to the overall sound), I don't believe this has a ribbon tweeter so how is the high end, how large is the soundstage and how would you say it compares to the other planar speakers?
That's what I'd be interested in.
Most of the planar owners have Magnepans and this is priced right around the 3.7i so that would be the main competition.
P.S.
I'm going off of the assumption this has a built-in subwoofer with a Class D plate amp.

Hard to type (for me) on the iPhone (did not bring the laptop or iPad mini). They did sound really good. Had lunch with Rich Hollis (and others) and got to talk to him about the DAC/DSP before hearing it. Very impressive bottom end (and I brought some good demo tracks).

Also leaving for dinner in a couple of minutes with a bunch of attendees and manufacturers

The room with Rich's MS-3 and DSP/DAC, along with Greg Takesh's GTA 2.5 speakers has a video review by Peter of AV Showrooms,  http://www.avshowrooms.com/Cap_Fest_2015_Vids_2.html       At 5:46 and 7:25 Peter has some remarkable comments about the sound and value of the system, Congratulations to Rich Hollis and Greg Takesh on an Award winning room at 2015 CAF!

Gary Gill is hosting a Mini CAF in Rockville, MD Saturday March 5th, AQUA DAC, GTAW GTA 2.5 speakers, NuPrime ST-10 SE amp, Wells majestic Integrated amp, Clones, Hi Diamond cabling, Robson speakers, and Core Power Technologies AC conditioning. RSVP to capitalaudiofest@gmail.com to reserve a spot and get directions.
The natural sounding AQUA DACs are worth the trip, and the GTA 2.5 speakers ( Gold Award winners from AV Showrooms at 2015 CAF ) will be playing for all who haven't heard them in person. The very cost effective NuPrime DAC/Amps, Wells amps, and Hi Diamond cables complete the systems. The very affordable Core Power Technologies AC conditioners will also be in the systems.
