Asking for NEAR help in the Hartford, CT area
« on: 22 Jan 2018, 05:37 pm »
Hi guys,

Aside from a rental car, what's the easiest/cheapest way to get from the Hartford CT airport to the UCONN Medical Center in Farmington?  Rail?  Bus?  I arrive early afternoon on Thursday.

And where's the best place in the area for used CDs/LPs?    :thumb:

Thanks!

Bob

"You can't get thea from hea?" :duh: :nono:  Sorry.  Couldn't resist.  Wrong state I know for use of that quote.

This sounds like either an ominous post, or an  out of town visit to welcome a new family member, or you've been hired as new faculty at the UCONN Medical School.  Either way, I would have to ask how long you will be in town, are you staying overnight, do you have other destinations/plans while staying in the area?

UCONN campus in Farmington and is maybe 20-25 minutes south and west driving from Bradley Airport.  There is a good highway route if faster is better.  Integrity N Music on the Silas Deane Highway(not really a highway anymore except by name) in Wethersfield is a nice place for cd's and lp's.  Wethersfield is the next town south of Hartford, so nearby.  Maybe 20-25 minutes drive from UCONN or Bradley.

Wait!  Are you saying you arrive at Bradley Airport in Windsor Locks or Brainard Airport in the Meadows of Hartford (and a little south of the city center, near to Wetherfield, too)?

Best Regards,

I would try an Uber. But have no experience in transportation in this state other then a car.
Welcome, I hope you have an enjoyable visit, and it's warmer here then where ever you're visiting from.

I used to work in Maine, so I got the reference!   :thumb:

Arriving at BDL, whatever the heck that is.

Shacking up for the weekend with a woman I used to live with.  :icon_twisted:   My wife works at UCONN as a consultant until May or longer, and it's my turn to travel to her.  She already has a rental car but can't get away to pick me up.

Thanks for the info on Integrity N Music!   :thumb:

Google Maps is your friend for public transportation routes and schedules.

Next trip you will have to allow time for a local A.C. meet and greet.  Keep in mind that the CT shore is a migratory flyway and the Connecticut River has some good eagle watching in the winter.  Oh yeah!  I forgot this is supposed to be a weekend for you two to "shack up"! :duh:    Hope you had fun.
