Have never been able to get into Monk. Need to give him another shot. Suppose it's a bit like eggplant. Or Pinot Noir. My tastes change over time. I also need to find a good used record store in the Bay Area--this paying $30 and up for records is getting expensive! We had Everyday Music in Portland, and it's where I got most of my records. Some of which were junk, but most responded very well to a vacuuming with my Nitty Gritty.
There should be some great stores in the Bay area. As for Monk, I would give this one a listen. This is the one that pulled me in.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monk's_Music
^ A most notable list CB. Hope all is well down in the desert. Nada but rain up here, typical NW fall/winter. Art Lande & Jan Garbarek: Red Lanta '74, ECM
The weather is fantastic here now. Red Lanta is a fine album.
One of the few of Garbarek's that I enjoy. A skilled musician to be sure, but he gets a little too far out for my tastes more often than not. Another one of the garage finds. So did you check your garage ?
I was just thinking it was another garage find in the back on my mind lol. If I found records in my garage they would be all melted together in a great big chunk.
