The Ace Lo has enough output to drive my passive pre/Tubelab Simple SE nice and loud on the Pi speakers but the loading is way wrong. (Ace likes 300 to 500 ohms or the 50 ohm setting on the Cinemags.)
I got out the Cinemag but it hummed madly so I tied together all 4 RCA ground lugs (flying in the face of Reason) and hum went bye-bye. Really, really quiet. However, there's always a however, when I replaced the yukky Belden patch cords I had grabbed in a hurry with another pair of White Lightnings from SUT to Cornet, back came the hum.
The yukky cords, you see, are shielded, the WLs, ain't. Hum is a bitch! Time to shield some White Lightnings.
