Thanks James.

I have already downloaded it and I am using it right now.   :thumb:

Berrie has done a great job listening to feedback and providing timely updates.

Hi folks

I just started playing around with the new version of GNOME on my PC and noticed there appears to be lots of Internet radio stations available through Magnatune and Jamendo that I can listen to on my BDP.

Have not figured out how to get all the songs or pick a particular station yet :duh:

When I tried listening to stations on Magnetune a mysterious voice comes on periodically announcing that you are listening to Magnetune. I assume this is to get one to subscribe. It interferes with the listening experience.

Iy would be a major selling point if the BDP-1 had some type of modlue to allow for listening to Internty music stations, for those who have the wired Ethernet  connection already hooked up.

Which Gnome version are you using, James, and from whence did you download it? I have found Gnome to be the best of the interfaces for the BDP-1 and I wish there was an iPhone app. I find MPOD limited and clunky.

Hi Neal - email me at jamestanner@bryston.com and I will send you the new link.

We do not want to put a module in the BDP-1 for noise reasons.

Hi James,

You could program Vtuner support into the firmware though?

Hi Folks

I found a good way to add radio stations to the BDP.

Use any browser to copy the URL link to the station and then use GNOME to add the URL to a playlist  - under Tools - add URL.  Then once you have your list save it as Radio 2 for example.

Hi James, I was going to do a little write up on this, if I get a chance I still will. I can now get all my favourite BBC channels playing on the BDP-1 in this way. You have to use the PLS streams from the following database:

http://www.listenlive.eu/uk.html

I have made a playlist called "BBC Radio" and they all work well, most at 128kbps

Cheers

Hi,

Must confess, I am a bit confused, not to say disappointed that Bryston rely on and advice this http://gmpc.wikia.com/wiki/Installation_OsX for internetradio-streaming on their BDP1 for Mac users, ...

Anyone got this to work yet? I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

Marius

Hi Alpha,

That would be great - I realize it is kind of a convoluted way but once the list is made it works really well.

Hi Folks,

The Minion Music player does not seem to work with the new Firefox 10.  I have loaded Firefox 7.1 from the following website and it works well with the BDP-1 on my PC Windows 7 . Have not tried Firefox version 8 or 9 yet.

Is there a good, cheap hard-wired solution?  I am really frustrated with mpod which works well when it works but seems to have constant connectivity issues and frequent lockups.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled mpod every 2 weeks.

Are you using the IP address or the  bryston-bdp-1.local   in the Server setup?

Yes.  I have also used the mac address.  I always have to fiddle with my ipod to get a connection (I am around 3ft from my wireless bridge).  When I try to clear the playlist I get frequent lockups of mpod.  I then have to uninstall and reinstall the software then struggle for a connection.  There has to be a better way..........

I have had the same problems with MPOD. It locks up, then I have to delete it and reinstall and set up all over again. have taken to using Gnome on my netbook; better user experience, mich more reliable.

The one weak spot in the BDP-1 experience is the user interface. it needs to be improved and made easier to use.

James,

Same thing here too.Max got locked up every now and then.Need to refresh the page to get it going. The album art is  working fine with Max.

As for Mpad the connection is perfect But with no album art.
As for the server addy bryston-bdp1.local works intermittently. As of this moment I am using the bdp1 ISP addy for the Max and Mpad.

By the way the bdp is not hardwired from my pc,b'coz of the distance between the two,pc and Bdp.I am using the mancave with a dedicated router for the wireless connection between the IPad and Bdp.

James,

Is it ok to run both the interfaces at the same time? Max and Mpad, need to toggle back and forth so I can see the album art in Max.

Running MPDroid App on the Blackberry Playbook Tablet to Control Bryston BDP-1 Digital Player

Hi Folks:

From one of our customers:

I'm not sure if this information is of value to you, but I have managed to 'side load' the android app MPDroid MPD controller onto the Blackberry Playbook tablet and it is able to control the BDP-1.

Here is the process.

The android .APK app needs to be converted to a .BAR for Blackberry to work with, attached is the mpdroid BAR file.

You then need to download and install DDPD installer for windows from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?b3zwqcnxv3mtmcn

To sideload the app watch this video it will set you through the process: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=rHDrmAtaUY0

Ron

James,

One time saver I neglected to mention. To connect to the BDP-1 you have to use the IP address of the BDP the host name will NOT work.

I agree very much with this statement.  The BDP-1 sounds great but the user interface is not good.  I have a high tolerance for quirky software but I am reaching my limit.  I have only x amount of time to listen to music and I really don't want to spend that time trying to get the dang thing to work.
