Tekton Pendragon Audition in SF Bay Area?
« on: 10 Jan 2013, 03:35 am »
Hi,

I spoke with Eric about the Pendragons yesterday. He suggested I post to this board to see if there are any owners in the San Francisco bay area that would let me demo the Pendragons.

Since I have a JTR Orbit Shifter sub, he suggested the SEAS Pendragons, but I'd like to audition either version.

If you live in the area and can help me out, let me know, thanks!

Hey there, welcome to AC.  :thumb:
Not sure you've chosen the best area of the forum to place this post, but I'm not familiar enough with the product you're referring to to know if it's a home theater specific item or not. If somebody can direct me to a better place, I'd be more than happy to move this thread.

Bob  :D

Better places are Enclosures and Speaker reviews.

Wow. The new guy is being fought over.
The NorCal Circle guys obviously should be aware, but the speaker type Circle guys might be interested as well.

I owned a pair...loved them but had a chance to upgrade to a much better speaker, the Zu Def mkIII for not much $$$$ so I sold them.   Great speaker and there are several Bay Area Owners.    You might want to post on Audiogon also.

Haha, thanks, sorry about that. I missed the Nor Cal forum.

This seems like a cool forum so far ;) Which place would be best for my thread?

Hi Morgan, I did post to Audiogon....and you replied to another thread I started over there. :)

Bob, if you're the moderator could you please move my post to the right forum?

Thanks!

LoL

Nah,

Its just that there were big Tekton threads on those circles in the past. I am a circle agnostic...

Ok, looks like this would be best moved to the NorCal Circle.
Have fun over there fellas!  :thumb:

Hey you North Cal dudes, I found a stray of yours wandering around the HT Circle.
I rounded him up and brought him over here to you. Take good care of him.

Not meaning to derail the thread, but I don't understand your comment about upgrading to the Zu Def MK III for not much more money.  The upgrade to prior iterations of the speaker is $3500 or 140% of the price of new Pendragons.  New retail, the Definition MK.III are $7500 or 3x the price.  I might be missing something but we are now talking about a significant upgrade in price.

OP -- good luck on your hunt for an audition.

Very few people pay retail prices for audio gear.      And I was in the right place at the right time.   That's it.

Well, that is true, but retail is the only basis for making any meaningful cost comparisons.

And I was in the right place at the right time.   That's it.

And sometimes, that is all that really matters.  Congratulations!!

So I haven't auditioned the Tekton Pendragons yet, and I haven't gotten any replies from an owner at this thread or Audiogon.

Any suggestions on what to do next? I'd be interested in auditioning those Zus too.

You could try posting on Bay Area Audiophile Society: http://baasnotes.com/forum2/index.php

You also might want to check out the Dagogo Audio Show, last year Zu was there: http://caaudioshow.com/

Don't both companies have a return policy?

The little Zu Omen Bookshelves are on CL for $950/pair
