FLAC to AIFF
« on: 27 Jan 2008, 11:49 pm »
In a previous post I mentioned I have some FLAC files that I'd like to play on my CD player.

OK, I'm closer thanks to Crimson:
•I've downloaded Max.
•I've gone to Preferences.
•I've clicked on the Formats pane.
•I've selected  AIFF as an "Available Output Format"
•Under Encoder Settings, I selected
"Linear PCM, 15 bit big endian signed integer" (whatever the hell that is!)
with "aif" as my extension.

I successfully ripped a half dozen tunes into .aif files and my iTunes can play them!

I dragged the tunes to Toast Titanium. It recognizes the song names and automatically drops
the .aif extension.

BUT, when I use Toast Titanium, the songs do not play on my Rega Saturn even though
I burned the CD at only 4x speed. The Rega says "disc empty." And back in iTunes the names
on the disk are lost, generic titles like "Track 1" etc.

Have I done anything wrong? Anything to improve compatability with my Redbook Rega?

I'm delighted I've gotten this far..........

Can I go all the way?

Thanks,

Paul

I haven't used a Roxio product in quite a while, but if you're using iTunes to play the files you might as well burn them to disc in iTunes as well. Create a new playlist (File>New Playlist), then drag the tracks you want to this playlist. Once you've dragged enough tunes to fill a disc, click on your newly created playlist, insert a blank disc, and then click on the Burn Disc button on the bottom right.

I did it!

I imported from my Roxio disk into iTunes with AIFF.
Made the playlist.
Burned the disk.
I'm playing it right now! I love the New Pornographers and this bonus disk is great!

Thanks.
