I quit my 16 year long career in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry about a year ago to pursue my dream of becoming a speaker designer.   So I am now a contract-for-hire product design development consultant for the audio industry.

Services...
-Advanced 3D CAD modelling
-Build and test components using my CNC machine
-Full acoustical measurement and crossover design

My focus has mainly been on horn speakers for the audiophile market.  I have a number of unique horn designs that perform quite well.  I'm located in Ontario Canada.

Welcome.

Have always preferred the sound of thick wooden horns to other horn designs.

The horn loaded planar speakers look very interesting!

Welcome to Audio Circle Joseph!

I have been following you on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/joseph_crowe_diy/. I believe you are quite the up and coming force in the horn arena. I thought I was the only fan of the Fostex FW208 in North America until you arrived. That and you also share my love of Birch plywood.

The spiraling segmented horn concept you posted knocks me out. I hope you are ultimately able to devise a way to CNC it. I also look forward to learning if the work you are doing with carbon fiber diaphragms for compression drivers makes it out of the lab and into production.

Wow! Your home page and speakers look amazing. I saw a video on a very high end company in Brooklyn making horn based designs from wood, yours look fantastic.

Here are a few links on the double planar front horn.

If you have any questions let me know.  I started experimenting with planars and one day decided to mount the BG Neo8 into my large format midrange horn with an Fc of 200Hz.  To my surprise it achieved a flat response from 200Hz-17kHz!  So I continued to optimize the horn design so that it had better off-axis polars and better time domain measurements (less acoustical resonance) and I've come up with the E-200 double planar made from stacked layers of CNC cut Baltic Birch Plywood.

The latest is my triple planar which can be viewed here...https://www.instagram.com/p/B2z_QAqpHJd/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link.  This is almost ready to go on my CNC.

Thank you Norman, I appreciate the compliments!  I started my blog about 8 years ago and I was getting many requests for my 3D CAD design ability.  Once I announced I was doing audio design full time then there were many people that approached me for design work, both commercially and individuals.  I then decided to purchase the CNC machine so that I could quickly build prototypes to validate my designs.  I also developed the ES flare curvature since many were asking for the classic Yuichi designs (ie. A-290) and I didn't feel comfortable using somebody's work.  So the ES biradial spun from that and companies have started using the design under licence (Madera Handcrafterd for example).   I'm excited about some new projects coming up but it's against AC terms to discuss them on this thread.  Thanks again.

This is a recent review that I would like to share.
"Mid this year 2019, I built my first SET amp. It was months in the making and lots of patience and hard work. I was very happy with the results. Being it a 300B based SET amp at 8wpc, I needed a sensitive set of speakers to go with them. CUSTOM design was in my mind already having good experience amd satisfaction in making my amp. This is where I saw Joseph on one of his Youtube Videos. I was very happy to know that he was not that far from me. We emailed him back and forth until we reached the design that I wanted. Amazing skill, both on technical skills and hands. A lot of patience too with the changes that came along the way. This was my first Custom speaker and it is the best speakers I ever had. I have tried countless of speakers in my system. I even have a friend who came by who has a 40K speaker told me he likes mine better. I decided to use his ES 600 on top of the Onken Cabinets. Im using all RCF drivers on this build. Joseph designed the crossovers too. I am so so so happy of the outcome. No listening fatigue. Clarity and resolution is top notch. Now im enjoying these beauties. In my opinion these speakers would compete well in quality with the top high end commercial offerings out there which cost way way more. And by the way, most of all, he is a very good guy to deal with. Fair, patient and willing to do extra mile to get things right and make you happy and satisfied. Mike
