End user upgradability of new iMacs?
« on: 2 Oct 2011, 03:32 pm »
Just curious if the new iMacs are a bit more user friendly in terms of upgrading hard drives and memory?  I know the previous generation was not exactly easy and required some special tools to remove the glass dissplay panel, etc.

Have they improved this at all with the new 2011 iMacs?

Basically this is going to determine if I get factory upgrades or just a barebones model and add my own.

Thanks,

Jim

Memory is on the bottom of the computer very easy to install.  Crucial is the best place for memory as for hard drives their behind tge screen and tge screen is held in using neo magnets.

memory is no problem.

I went with OWC for SSD swap on a 2010 imac

Thanks folks.  Looks like I'll go for a soupedup mini instead.  I just don't want to jump through all these hoops, and I want my main drive to be an SSD, but don't want to compromise the warranty or pay for an Apple SSD for that result.

I don't need the display anyway.
